Babe History 101

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

I’ve decided to make a reoccurring segment where I will feature some hunks (bringing this word back) dead or alive from the past, be it musicians/actors that were quite good looking in their younger years.

To start this off  I decided on Joe Strummer and Paul Simonon from one of my all-time favourite bands The Clash.

Joe Strummer

Paul Simonon

Where they are now: if you didn’t know, Joe Strummer passed away in 2002 of heart failure (RIP). Paul Simonon currently works as an artists and has had several gallery shows and has designed album covers for numerous bands. He also just recently reunited with fellow Clash-mate Mick Jones for a guest appearance on the new Gorillaz album. I have yet to hear it but it’s at the top of my list.

Who else should I feature on Babe History 101? Let me know!

Rusty Hooks Video Shoot

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

A few months ago I got the chance to do the Art Direction for a music video ‘Rusty Hooks’ by Fatt Matt & DJ Moves. We had to work with a classroom full of children and it was definitely not an easy task but so much fun. Once done we had a video release party and I got to design the posters for the event.

Sad Day

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I just read that the Punk Rock legend Chuck Biscuits passed away last Saturday after a prolonged battle with throat cancer.  Chuck played drums in many influential punk bands including DOA, Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Social Distortion to name a few.

I remember seeing Social Distortion for the first time in 1996 at the Spectrum in Montreal and Chuck had just joined them and I remember being overly excited over getting to see him play with one of my all time favourite bands.

Rip Chuck Biscuits (1965 – 2009)

He will be missed.
