I ♥ Shoes

Friday, October 30th, 2009

My mother just called me to let me know that Oprah viewers could go to her website & get 50% off coupon all store items at Payless Shoe Source, basically promoting the new launch of Christian Siriano’s shoes.

If anybody remembers when he first had his fashion show with his shoe launch, the shoes were gorgeous and edgy and I seriously considered getting a few pairs so when I heard of the coupon I immediately went over to the Payless website to check out which stores were carrying them.

& to my surprise the shoes look nothing like I thought they were going to look like. I mean they’re still cute but they’re nothing special or anything I would go out of my way to buy, they’re very toned down and not nearly as high as I’d like them to be (what can I say I love my 5″ heels!)

Maybe I’ll still try to find them, I mean for 50% off, it’s still a steal.

Meat Hand!

Friday, October 30th, 2009

This is too amazing to not repost. Not Martha made a meat loaf that creepily resembles a charred, burnt zombie hand.

My favourite part is the wrist bone poking out at the bottom, how clever! I’m pretty sure no matter how delicious this tastes, it would still be terrifying and weird to eat.

Check out how she made it here.

Rusty Hooks Video Shoot

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

A few months ago I got the chance to do the Art Direction for a music video ‘Rusty Hooks’ by Fatt Matt & DJ Moves. We had to work with a classroom full of children and it was definitely not an easy task but so much fun. Once done we had a video release party and I got to design the posters for the event.

Wearable Art

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

This summer I had the pleasure of working with my friend and class buddy, who also happens to be an amazing talented costume designer Angela Bright. Every year or so she enters into the Wearable Art Awards and I’m pretty sure she’s been cleaning house for the past few years. This year I helped put together a photoshoot for her piece which was a dress made entirely out of newspaper (take that Project Runway!). It was seriously the most jaw dropping dress I’ve ever seen, nevermind that I couldn’t even comprehend how she made it out of paper.

None of this shoot would’ve been possible of course without the following people:

Morgan Hirtle, Photographer
Patrick Campbell, Assistant Photographer
Taylor Stobbe, Makeup Artist
Nichole Pelletier, Model
& especially Kyla Trethewey, Nanny Trethewey & Kalmia Cedar for providing us with such an amazing location and all of their help.

I had so much fun putting this shoot together and am hoping to be helping her out again this year!
